Driveway Pour
October 21, 2006
Web Site Under Construction
The first truck pulled in and was positioned so that wheelbarrows could be filled.
The truck driver made a mess of Bill's wet lawn backing in and pulling out.
Scott positions the chute and the wheelbarrows are filled.
The concrete is dumped at the far end of the driveway and raked into rough position.
Scott had a great crew. In the white shirt and white cap is Mike; the white shirt and
dark cap is John; Scott is wearing a blue plaid shirt; and Chris is the other plaid shirt.
The driveway continues to be filled while Scott contours the fill for the correct height
and slope.
On left, L-R, Chris, Mike, John and Scott move quickly to rake and contour the concrete.
The concrete had to be almost 1-1/2 in the truck and was setting up quickly!. On the
right, the first truck leaves.
On the left, notice how Scott is tapering the drive to the crock. The other guys quickly
rake excess concrete immediately behind Scott. On the right, the second truck has arrived.
No wheelbarrows are required here; the chute is just swung back and forth as the guys rake.
Sean, on the left, stopped by to watch the progress.
On the left, Sean is doing damage control to Bill's lawn where the concrete truck tore
up the grass. On the right is a view of the drive before edge treatment and texturing.
These photos show how the edge treatment is applied. Notice on the left the brushed
texture between the edges.
On the left, Scott applies the brush texture. On the right, Chris is sealing the surface.
Fallen leaves were a constant problem. Scott was careful to remove them when possible.
Two days later, Monday, October 23nd, we had rain and snow on the new driveway!
