Salton Sea Area
While the sea supports fish, including Talapia, it is amazing that any plant
can tolerate the inch of salt covering the soil!
Further from the sea, fresh water is brought in from the Colorado to grow crops
Here red peppers grow in vast numbers!
Orange and other citrus groves are everywhere.
Date palms are cultivated for their fruit.
This was a new one for me - artichoke plants!
Here, an elaborate set of conveyors move califlower heads that the men in
the field cut off. The women in the tractor wrap the heads in plastic and
place them in boxes ready to be shipped to the grocery store!
