Key West Cemetery

An interesting place, this. The cemetery is divided into several sections such as a Catholic section and a Jewish section. This section stands in memory of the sinking of the USS Maine, which blew up in Havana Harbor killing some 260 sailors, a disaster which led to the USA declaring war on Spain. Besides two dozen of the dead lying here, there are other Spanish-American war veterans buried nearby. Another wild rooster of Key West. This is probably not a good place to crow, no one to wake up! A rather ironic gravestone! A beautiful statue of an angle overlooks this gravesite. In the Jewish section of the cemetery, visitors leave stones on the graves per Jewish tradition.
