Prelude:

For family and friends who wish to keep track of the house addition...

I decided to build a single floor addition off the back (north) side of the house which will add
living space, garage and driveway.

The garage will be heated, insulated, and finished. It will be maintained at a minimum temperature
of 40 deg. F in the winter. The garage is a large three-car unit, finished, with storage in the attic,
providing a clean, dry place for cars and space to work.

I also wanted to move the master bedroom from the second floor to the first floor. This will save
walking up/down stairs (in anticipation of my later years)! The new addition will include this master
bedroom which frees up existing bedrooms on the second floor for kids, grandkids, and other family
and friends who are most welcomed to stay.

I also wanted to move the laundry room from the basement to first floor. The basement has a very
low ceiling and is dank. The old bathroom on the first floor will be converted to a new laundry and
ironing room, with closet storage. A new bathroom will be built in the addition.

The existing hallway from the kitchen will be extended through the new addition and end with a door
to the new garage. Doors from the new hallway will provide access to a new bathroom and mud/coat room on
the left and new bedroom on the right.

The new master bedroom has access from the hallway and also from the existing office off the living rooom.

This set of web pages has photos from site prep on 16-June-2006 through all phases of
construction which is anticipated to be complete by 31-Dec-2006.

The prime contractor is Sean, shown here with his wife Amy, sons Luke and Seth, and nephew Adam.
