Backfill, Garage Drains August 1-3

Return to House Addition - August

Due to the rain and heat wave in July, plus difficulties getting the garage drain pipe trench dug past HUGE tree roots, Sean did not get to backfill until the middle of this week. This photo shows Alex trying to cut through the roots with an ax in 100 degree weather! Sean finally used a skid loader to pry roots loose and distribute the pea gravel backfill. Sean driving the skid loader on August 1st. No, wait a minute, that's ME driving the skid loader. Sean should have known better than to have left the keys with me overnight! Backfill in process ... Backfill in process. Note the delivery of sand in background. Backfill complete. The garage drain pipe connections can now be completed. Finished running the drain into the crawl space. In this space, Sean will put a trap in the line and connect to future bathroom vent. The wall braces were put up because rain was a threat. With all the potentially wet mud on one side of the wall there is a risk of wall collapse. End of work day 8/3/2006.
